A preschool has operated on the premises at 110 Tyron Road, East Lindfield for over 55 years. It was a private preschool until 1976. From 1977, the preschool became an embedded part of the community, when volunteer parents assumed the administration and management of the preschool as a not-for-profit community preschool. The preschool operates on premises owned by the Anglican Church.
Our aim is to:
- Provide a safe, secure and welcoming environment, while providing a high quality educational program for our community’s children.
- Provide a flexible service which meets the differing needs of the surrounding community.
- Provide a caring, supportive environment, which reflects individual and cultural diversity.
- Encourage as much family involvement as possible for the individual.
- Foster a team approach where all staff are respected and a valuable part of the team.
- Provide experiences that promote social skills, independence and resilience in a supportive and nurturing environment that encourages the children to persevere and succeed when faced with difficult situations.
- Provide a high quality play based program that provides a wide range of active and meaningful experiences that incorporate choice for children, while enabling them to experience many of the organised elements that are important at school. We endeavour to best prepare our children for their future school years, while acknowledging the importance and joy the preschool years bring.
- Respect each child’s and their family’s and staff member’s individuality and opinion, regardless of gender, race, religion or culture.
- Employ university trained early childhood teaching staff who: value the uniqueness of children; understand child development; see their role within the preschool as educators and facilitators of learning; are models of professionalism who guide and advocate for quality child care.
We are guided by the principles, practices and learning outcomes of the Early Years Learning Framework. We recognise that children’s lives are characterised by “being, becoming and belonging”. These core principles provide many opportunities for children to maximise their potential throughout their life experiences.
